Support Prisoners’ Make Grassroots Media for Hunger Strike’s 1st Anniversary!

If you know prisoners who participated in the CA hunger strike, send them a letter with this information so they can participate in commemorating the 1st anniversary!

Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity would like to hear your reflections as we approach the first anniversary of the CA Hunger Strike! Please read the questions below, and send our media team a letter with your responses. Send letters to: PHSS Media Team/1904 Franklin St, Suite 504/Oakland, CA 94612

  • In approaching the year anniversary, how have things changed? What do you think some of the advances have been?
  • What have been the biggest challenges to furthering this struggle? What are you most hopeful for/about?
  • How do you think your struggle relates to other fights happening inside and outside of prisons all over the world right now?  What are the connections?  How can we forge stronger ones?
  • How would you like people to support you on the outside?

*Note: writing “hunger strike” increases the likelihood of mail being denied or other forms of retaliation. Instead of writing hunger strike you can write “hs”

  2. “hs” sit in a dark place close your eyes for 5 minutes open them to see what inmates in the shu veiw. Try doing this every day for over 3 years. The only light one can see is fluorscent which can effect ones vission. If one looks at this it can bring cost down in medical. More then half the inmates in the shu have a vission problem and will.
