All hunger strike supporters: please come if you can to the Oakland Courthouse next Thursday (9/26) at 1:00. The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) will appear in court to argue that their legal challenge to solitary in Pelican Bay should be a class action. There will be a press conference outside at 1:00 where we can show solidarity, then go inside for the hearing.
CCR’s announcement: “[we are] heading to Oakland next week for oral argument on class certification in our federal lawsuit challenging solitary confinement practices at Pelican Bay State Prison. This legal action is part of the larger grassroots movement to end the inhumane conditions in California prisons’ Security Housing Units (SHU), a movement sparked by the peaceful hunger strikes SHU prisoners have held over the past few years. Come show your support!”
